Riconoscimenti

Patrizio Napolitano, born in Rome in 1948, is a photographer with over four decades of documented experience. His production spans from underwater photography — a field in which he has achieved significant recognition — to architectural and religious reportage, as well as sports and nature photography. Throughout his career, he has collaborated with national and international magazines, cultural institutions, and sports associations, consistently maintaining an approach oriented toward expressive quality.

Awards and Recognitions

1977 First prize in the photography contest "Rome Yesterday and Today," organized by the magazine Paese Sera.

1991 Medal of Beato Angelico, the highest recognition the Catholic Church bestows upon artists. It was awarded to him as an example of artistic excellence in the field of underwater photography. Beato Angelico was proclaimed the patron saint of artists by Pope John Paul II.

1996 Solemn commendation for artistic work, conferred by the President of the Council of Cultural Heritage, Dr. Luciano Martini, following numerous lectures and video projections held at various branches of the Italian Rotary Club.

Publications and Collaborations

1990 Following multiple placements in official underwater photography competitions, participation in the selection process for the Italian National Team at the World Underwater Photography Championships.

1990s Publication of articles and photographic reportages in the following magazines: Sub, Viaggio Invito, and Il Subacqueo, with several cover features.

1992 Photographic illustration, including the cover photo, for the book Appunti di biologia marina (Notes on Marine Biology) by Dr. Giulia Pisa.

1993 Presentation of the slide projection "Water, Source of Life" at the Florence Underwater Show, by invitation of the organizing committee.

1994 Photographic contribution, featuring numerous illustrations, to the book Italia Sott'acqua (Underwater Italy) by Salvatore Braca.

2005 Illustration of the annual program for the Mountaineering Association La Cordata (CAI Tivoli), providing the cover and internal photographic material.

2006–2015 Accredited sports photographer for SS Lazio Nuoto for the Serie A1 water polo team; media accreditation at the Vatican Press Office on the occasion of a papal audience granted to the entire sports club in the Nervi Hall.

2017 Photographic reportage for the Basilica of Santa Maria in Trastevere; one of the images captured was published in the Spanish print edition of National Geographic, within an article dedicated to Rome.

2026 Photographic reportage for the Roman Basilica of Santi XII Apostoli; several images have been published on the Basilica's institutional website.

2026 Publishes a first photobook titled Urban Solitude.

2026 Publishes a second book in the same series titled Lo spazio non è mai vuoto (Space Is Never Empty).
